SGM Rick Kingi
I was born on April 18, 1946. I have an older sister, older brother and a twin brother raised by my mom. What I remember from my childhood is that I always seemed to be in trouble. I was always somewhere else while my siblings were doing what they were suppose to be doing like when my aunt was teaching us how to tie our shoes. So I taught myself my own way which I still do today which no one ties their shoes like me. While in school I was always getting suspended. I couldn't walk across the stage in junior high school from being in trouble. I was bored in high school and left high school by the end of 10th grade. My mom didn't know I dropped out of school until my twin brother graduated high school. I started working at the age of 15 at gas stations. At 19 years old I got married to my wife. I started working at wherehouses, paper mills and Douglas Aircraft. Then I went to work in 1974 at RTD now known as MTA for the next 24 years. In 1981 I opened up Kingi's Kajukenbo to present day.
During the early part of our marriage our family did a lot of tent camping then we graduated to rv camping which always created good family bonding time which we still do today.
Some of the things I enjoyed before I got married was going to the drag races, riding motorcycles and doing karate which I still do today. One of my best hobbies are golfing and of course going out to eat at different restaurants with my wife. I enjoy being invited doing Kajukenbo seminars and teaching throughout the United States always bringing a family member with me. I always keep my family involved in our family business.
I am so proud of all four of my children how they turned out. They are great parents, great providers and great role models for their children as I would like to think I was for them.
