Ramos Lineage

Grandmaster Jesse “Cheyenne” Corpus began his martial arts journey in 1971 in Vallejo, California, under Senior GM Emil Bautista. He is one of many Kajukenbo Belts within the Corpus family, which include his father, Sibak Jesus Corpus, his siblings; Grand Master Jerry Corpus and Master Janette Corpus, and his two sons; Sigung Joshua Corpus and Sifu Justin Corpus. He received his black belt in 1983, signed by Ah Gung Tony Ramos, SGM Emil Bautista, and GM Chris Rapacon. GM Jesse is currently serving as CEO and Chief Tribal Leader of JCMA & Affiliates and a Member of Sijo’s Board of Advisors.

Throughout his years in Kajukenbo, GM Jesse has competed in forms and kumite and ranked in various tournaments, including CKL, AMAPA, and the Gold Circuit. GM Jesse won his first Grand Champion at Ah Hung Tony Ramos’ USAAKC in 1976 and recently completed in the Grandmaster Division at the Central Valley Open in 2018, ranking first in two divisions, and ultimately winning Overall Black Belt Grand Champion for 18 and over.

In 1984, GM Jesse started teaching Kajukenbo at various Dojos and in 1999 opened the first J. Corpus Martial Arts (“JCMA”) dojo in Antioch, CA. In 2007, GM Jesse opened his second dojo, J2, in Vallejo, CA and in 2007, J3 was opened in American Canyon, CA. In September 2016, GM Jesse and his brother, GM Jerry Corpus, opened JCMA Benicia. GM Jesse’s teaching philosophy is to “teach them well and let them lead the way,” this means teaching from the heart and emphasizing a family or “Ohana” oriented environment. He has documented all his Kajukenbo Knowledge in both DVD and hand written bible. GM Jesse believes in the development of character in one’s training in martial arts, which includes the focus of spirit, mind, and body. addition, he has # dojos currently operating from his branch, Ramirez Martial Arts, Lagang’s Martial Arts, Claw Martial Arts, Romero’s Kajukenbo Martial Arts, Ebalo Martial Arts and Berenguer Martial Arts.
