Peralta Lineage
Grandmaster Agustín López Campos is a distinguished martial artist with over 46 years of experience spanning multiple disciplines. As the successor to Senior Grandmaster Richard L. Peralta, he is the president and founder of the Spanish Association of Kajukenbo, a role that has solidified his influence and leadership within the martial arts community both in Spain and internationally.
GM Agustín's journey began in 1978 when he started training in Karate. That same year, he discovered Kajukenbo under the guidance of Professor René Rodríguez, marking the beginning of a lifelong dedication to the art. In 1982, he earned his Black Belt in Kajukenbo under Ángel García. Demonstrating unwavering commitment and skill, he advanced through the ranks over the years, achieving his 9th Dan Black Belt in 2017, a prestigious honor bestowed upon him by a council of masters from KSDI, AKA, and KSDS.
Throughout his career, GM Agustín trained under some of the most renowned masters in the martial arts world. Notably, he studied with Sijo Adriano D. Emperado, the founder of Kajukenbo, and Senior Grandmaster Richard L. Peralta, with whom he trained from 1990 until Peralta's passing in 2005. In August 2004, GM Agustín was named Peralta's successor, a testament to his mastery and dedication to Kajukenbo.
Beyond his expertise in Kajukenbo, GM Agustín has achieved significant ranks in other martial arts disciplines. He holds a Black Belt in Kung Fu, recognized by the Spanish Karate Federation's Kung Fu Department, and has attained advanced levels in Hung Gar Kuen from the Wong Fei Hung Institute. His quest for knowledge led him to study Wing Tsun; Kobudo under Master Choyu Hentona, earning a 5th Dan Black Belt; and Ju-Jitsu under Masters Patxi Escribano and Robert Gordon Ross, culminating in his induction into the Scottish Ju-Jitsu Hall of Fame in 2003. Additionally, he has trained in Tai Chi Chuan under Miguel Ángel Rojo and Eugenio Escabias, reflecting his appreciation for the internal aspects of martial arts.
GM Agustín has been a pivotal figure in promoting martial arts throughout Spain. Over the past four decades, he has organized numerous multidisciplinary courses to celebrate the anniversary of the Spanish Association of Kajukenbo. Since 2005, he has hosted the annual Memorial for his mentor, Richard L. Peralta, inviting esteemed martial arts instructors from around the globe to share their knowledge. His efforts have not only honored his master's legacy but have also enriched the martial arts community by fostering learning and collaboration.
His dedication to continuous improvement is evident in his active participation in various seminars and workshops. GM Agustín has trained with and learned from grandmasters across a spectrum of martial arts styles, including Wing Tsun with Grandmaster Leung Ting, Shaolin Kenpo with Grandmaster Ralph Castro, Jeet Kune Do with Guro Joaquín Almería, and many others. His exploration of diverse martial arts also includes periods of practice in Karate, Judo, Tae Kwon Do, Pekiti-Tirsia, a Filipino martial art, and Kick-Boxing.
